Dear AYO alumni –
We would like to welcome you to the Asian Youth Orchestra Alumni
Association.
Since 1990, more than 1,000 musicians have participated in AYO. The
orchestra has played 275 concerts in Asia, Australia, Europe and North
America. All of you shaped AYO’s history, which includes
the first concerts played by musicians
from China and Taiwan in Beijing and Taipei, the first concerts by an
international orchestra in 50 years in Hanoi, the world premiere
performances of Tan Dun's Symphony 1997 with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in Hong
Kong and Beijing marking the territory's reunification with China,
multiple appearances in Beijing's Great Hall of the People, performances
in the White House and at the United Nations, and concerts across Asia
and around the world, in New York's Avery Fisher Hall, California's
Hollywood Bowl, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Berlin's Shauspielhaus,
Vienna's Konzerthaus, and Sydney's Opera House.
In February 2009, the official AYO Alumni Association (AA) was founded.
One of the missions of the AA is to find as many AYO alumni as possible
around the world. Another of the missions is to get as many of you as
possible involved in the celebration of AYO’s 20th
Anniversary in 2010, a great milestone for AYO.
In the coming months, you will receive alumni news from the AA through
email. But to get the new we have to know how to contact you! If you
have not registered at the AYO website, please fill out the slip below.
