Jacek Muzyk

Jacek
Muzyk was born and raised in Poland. He began playing piano at the
age of 7, becoming a proficient jazz pianist by his late teens,
and began to study French horn intensively at the age of 18. After
graduation from the Academy of Music in Krakow, where Krzysztof
Penderecki served as rector, Mr. Muzyk completed another master
degree through a full scholarship at the Mannes College of Music
in New York studying with David Jolley. He received further
education at the Juilliard School, also with a full scholarship,
then continued studying at Rice University with the renowned
William Vermeulen.
Following his studies Mr. Muzyk returned to Poland, working full time
with Sinfonia Varsovia, the National Philharmonic of Warsaw and
Krakow Philharmonic among others. In 2002 he moved to the United
States where he played with the Houston Grand Opera and the Dallas
Symphony Orchestra before appointed as Principal Horn with the Buffalo
Philharmonic. He has made guest appearances with the Chicago
Symphony, Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Saint Paul
Chamber Orchestra and other orchestras in the USA, Japan, South
America and Europe and has appeared as soloist as well. He has
recorded all four Mozart concertos for Naxos, and another CD with Bach
cello suite in transcription for French horn. This is his first summer with AYO.
