David Sheets
Double Bass
 David Sheets was born in 1971, raised
in Prairie Village Kansas and studied briefly at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York.
Over the last 20 years and having started his career while still a student as a section member then assistant Principal
in Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Mr. Sheets has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra,
Baltimore and St. Louis symphony orchestras. Throughout his career he has been an enthusiastic participant in programs
for young musicians such as the National Repertory Orchestra, Arts Excel program and private instruction for double
bassists seeking a career in a symphony orchestra. Engagements as a soloist at the International Society of Bassists
convention, as a jazz bassist at Washington D.C.'s Blues Alley and several east coast jazz festivals, as a frequent
member of chamber ensembles including 12 years as principal of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra have added to his recent
musical experience outside of performing the symphonic orchestra literature. This is his seventh summer with AYO.
