Anna Tsybuleva
Piano Soloist
Described by Gramophone as embodying "superb pianism and intelligent musicianship," Anna Tsybuleva gained international recognition after winning the First Prize at the 2015 Leeds International Piano Competition. International Piano Magazine hailed her as "a pianist of rare gifts," comparing her triumph to Murray Perahia's 1972 victory.
Born in 1990 in the remote village of Nizhny Arkhyz (population 500) in the Caucasus Mountains, Tsybuleva's childhood surrounded by nature profoundly influences her intimate performance style, which captivates audiences even in large concert halls. Her "Complete Debussy Préludes: The Visual Album" (2023) beautifully demonstrates this unique approach.
She has performed at prestigious venues worldwide including Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Zurich's Tonhalle, and London's Wigmore Hall. As a concerto soloist, she has collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, and Frankfurt's hr-Sinfonieorchester, working with conductors including Yuri Temirkanov, Sir Mark Elder, and Marin Alsop.
Her recording of Brahms' Second Piano Concerto with the DSO Berlin (Signum Classics, 2021) received critical acclaim, with Gramophone praising its "poetic lyricism" and BBC Music Magazine noting her "deep empathy." Her 2024 release of Debussy's Préludes follows a 2022 world-premiere recording of a new piano concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop.
Tsybuleva began piano studies with her mother at age six, later attending Moscow's Central Music School and Tchaikovsky Conservatoire under Professor Lyudmila Roschina. After graduating with the 'Best Student' award (2014), she studied with Claudio Martínez-Mehner in Basel, developing her passion for German Romantic repertoire.
In 2022, she founded the AlterSono Festival in her hometown, combining music with science and space exploration. A Yamaha Artist, Tsybuleva continues to emerge as "one of the finest pianists of her generation" (International Piano Magazine).
